District Nine values the dedication and commitment of our members, and we are proud to celebrate and recognize Altrusans for their years of service. In order to honor members accurately, we are currently conducting an audit of membership records to ensure that years of service reflect actual participation. Your help is needed to verify both the start date and the years of service for each member so that our records remain correct and our recognitions are meaningful.

Clarification of Rules for Recording Members’ Years of Service

  1. Members’ Years of Service must reflect their actual years of active participation, based only on the number of years they have paid dues and participated in Altrusa activity as a member in good standing.
  2. To ensure accuracy, the Membership Report should include both:
    1. Original Start Date – the year the member first joined.
    2. Adjusted Start Year – the recalculated year that accounts for any breaks in membership (years when dues were not paid).
  1. In most cases, the Original Start Date and the Adjusted Start Year will be the same.
  2. For members with breaks in participation, the Adjusted Start Year should be moved forward so that their service years equal their total dues-paid years.

Example:

  1. A member first joined in 2010.
  2. They were active and paid dues from 2010–2014.
  3. They then had a 3-year break (2015–2017, no dues paid).
  4. They rejoined in 2018 and have been active since.

In 2025:

  1. Original Start Date: 2010
  2. Adjusted Start Year: 2013 (2010 + 3 years of break)
  3. Years of Service: 12 (2010–2014 = 5 years, plus 2018–2025 = 7 years).
