Altrusa International of Waxahachie Recognized as Distinguished Club
WAXAHACHIE, Texas — Altrusa International of Waxahachie is proud to announce that it has been recognized as a Distinguished Club by Altrusa International during its inaugural year of service.
Receiving this prestigious honor in just ten months represents a significant milestone for the organization and reflects the vision, dedication, and commitment demonstrated by its members since the club's founding.
From its very first meeting, Altrusa International of Waxahachie has focused on building meaningful community partnerships, promoting literacy, and serving the citizens of Ellis County with compassion and purpose. The Distinguished Club recognition highlights the club's successful efforts to establish a strong foundation of service and leadership in a remarkably short period of time.
From Waxahachie to Uganda — a story of impact
In May, our community came together in a powerful way. Through our book drive, we:
- Collected 1,675 books (168% of our goal!)
- Shipped 1,000 books to Gulu, Uganda
- Engaged 10 volunteers who gave 24.5 hours
- Connected communities across 8,000+ miles
These books are helping create the starter collection for a new community library in Gulu, reaching 1,000+ readers—with so many more still in need.
Altrusa International of Waxahachie Celebrates First-Year Impact and Welcomes New Members
In its inaugural year, Altrusa International of Waxahachie has made a remarkable impact, contributing approximately 4,363 volunteer hours valued at $152,661.37 through service projects, literacy initiatives, and community partnerships. Under the leadership of President Demric Woods, the organization has demonstrated the power of volunteerism while continuing to expand its reach and membership, recently welcoming five new members. As it enters its second year, Altrusa Waxahachie remains committed to strengthening community connections, growing its service efforts, and creating meaningful opportunities that improve lives across the region.

Membership Dues:
Joining Altrusa is an investment in service, leadership, literacy, and community impact. Membership dues include a new member processing fee, international dues, district dues, and local club dues.
Adult Membership (Age 31+)
For adults age 31 and older, membership dues are:
- $100.00 when joining between April 1 and November 30
- $55.00 when joining between December 1 and March 31
Adult Membership (Full Year) Includes:
- New Member Processing Fee: $10.00
- International Dues: $55.00
- District Dues: $18.00
- Local Club Dues: $17.00
- Total Membership Investment: $100.00
Young Adult Membership (Age 30 & Younger)
Young adults age 30 and younger enjoy a reduced membership rate of $55.00, regardless of when they join during the year.
Young Adult Membership Includes:
- New Member Processing Fee: $10.00
- International Dues: $27.50
- District Dues: $9.00
- Local Club Dues: $8.50
- Total Membership Investment: $55.00
Additional Information
Adult membership dues are prorated for members joining between December 1 and March 31, resulting in a reduced first-year membership cost of $55.00. Young Adult membership remains $55.00 throughout the year.
Please note that additional fees may apply for a new member kit, which may include items such as an Altrusa pin, name badge, and other club-specific materials.
