Altrusa District Nine “250 Challenge”: 250 Years of Freedom. 250 Ways to Serve.
Celebrating America’s 250th Anniversary through Literacy, Service, Kindness & Giving
As the United States celebrates its 250th Anniversary, Altrusa District Nine invites every club to honor this historic milestone through meaningful service in their local communities. This district-wide initiative recognizes the power of literacy, volunteerism, kindness, and giving to strengthen communities - just as service has strengthened our nation for 250 years.
THE “250 CHALLENGE”
By December 31, 2026, clubs are encouraged to complete one or more of the following:
250 Books
Donate or distribute 250 books to schools, libraries, literacy programs, shelters, hospitals, or community partners.
250 Literacy Volunteer Hours
Report 250 literacy-related volunteer hours supporting reading programs, tutoring, ESL, library services, book drives, or educational outreach.
250 Acts of Kindness
Complete 250 acts of kindness that positively impact your community. Acts may be individual or club-based and may include service projects of all kinds.
Club 52 Foundation Challenge
Become a Club 52 Club by contributing a $252 donation to the Altrusa International Foundation in honor of America’s 250th Anniversary, supporting literacy and service worldwide. Donate Here
CLUB RECOGNITION LEVELS
Clubs completing one or more challenges will be recognized for their accomplishment
- Bronze 250 Club - Complete 1 challenge
- Silver 250 Club - Complete 2 challenges
- Gold 250 Club - Complete 3 challenges
- Platinum 250 Club - Complete all 4 challenges
Recognition reflects participation and impact - not competition.
